This release is a new publication that combines aspects of two esiting releases: Council Tax Valuation Lists summary, and Property Attributes counts. This release contains details of the number of dwellings by Council Tax band and property attributes in England and Wales.
Time
Council Tax: Property Attributes datasets for 2010,2011,2012, 2014 and 2015 are provided. No information is provided for 2013. It is unclear whether this information could be requested for additional years. Council Tax Valuation Lists: Summary are available from April 2011 to September 2014
Dataset Quality
Release notes featuring a comment on data quality were provided with the statistical release. These are government administrative data and therefore can be considered high quality. They cover all local authorities within England and Wales.
Dataset Access and Use
Freely accessible data tables for 2015 are provided via the Valuation Office Agency Website. Additional datasets for 2010,2011 and 2012 and 2014 are provided via the National Archive. It is unclear whether data for other years could be obtained by request.
Government attitudes to research use of their data appear favourable.
