Statistics on the challenges made to entries in the Council Tax valuation lists for any financial year, including outcomes from cleared challenges. There were 54000 challenges for the 2014/15 financial year. From 2014, this dataset includes data on changes to valuation lists

Dataset Quality
Release notes with a comment on data quality are provided with the release. These are however government administrative statistics and are thus high quality. They cover all challenges to council tax bands made within a financial year.
Dataset Access and Use
A freely accessible dataset is available. For the most recent year, this is provided through the Valuation Office Agency website. Historical data from 2005 onwards is provided through the National Archive.
Government attitudes to research use of their data appear favourable.
