Data Type:Sample survey

LFS is a household survey of the private resident population in the UK with the objective of understanding the UK labour market. Each quarter's sample of 41,000 household/100,000 individuals is made up from 5 'waves' each consisting of approx 8000 households (so hhlds remain in LFS for 5 waves giving modest longitudinal element). Variables include: Family type and presence of children, People in families by family type and presence of children, families with dependent children, dependent children in families by family type, households by size, people living alone by age and sex, Households by type of household and family, People in households by type of household and family.
